That is gross. But I wouldn't put it past a chicken to eat anything that didn't try to eat it first. I don't know if I could ever eat their eggs again after that. Well maybe for a long time anyway.

I beleive its true...chickens will eat anything and everything.Turkeys,too.i have seen chickens peck away stryofoam coolers.I wondered if they'd lay corks I could use for fishing.My birds follow me around and do peck at me if I don't feed them.I guess I hope I don't fall down when they're real hungry.What can I say...I like eating eggs and chickens,too.

There was an article in Backyard Poultry a year or two ago about a guy who put animal carcasses in buckets with holes drilled in the bottom so the maggots would drop out for his chickens to eat. Bleck!

That is just gross.... worse than my girls standing there as I am processing meat birds trying to steal bits and pieces. I finally just buried the "leftovers" inclueding feathers in my compost pile thinking that would stop them. I was wrong. They went over to the compost pile and scratched until they dug them up.
