Dinornis
Chirping
Hello there -
I was in Utah a few months ago (it only occurred to me to post this now, sorry) at the This is The Place heritage park. Of course I eagerly spent my rime hanging out with the goats, sheep, pigs and chickens. I came across one chicken, however, that baffled me. I've never seen a thing like it.
I didn't have my camera with me (again, sorry) so I don't have a picture but I can describe it pretty well. It was pretty large, larger than any hens that I have. I assume it was a hen due to the lack of long tail feathers and lack of spurs. It had several bald patches on its head. The most interesting part was its throat - it had a very prominent dewlap, like that of a turkey or monitor lizard.
Anyone know what exactly this particular chicken is? I'm stumped. My 'rents might've taken a few pictures, so in the meantime i'll try and dig those up
