This plant grows wild on my central Florida property. Can anyone ID it? Is it edible for the chickens? The berries are about 3/16" to 1/4" diameter.
the plant has multiple stalks and will get 8'-0 plus high.

Thanks
Bob

I didn't know it was edible.

I've had mine for several years. It only blooms and produces the berries 1x a year. I planted it for the winter color of the berries.

Thanks for all the quick replies. I believe it is definitely Beauty Berry.

I'll give a little to the chickens and see what they think. Where their run is now they can not get to it. But I plan on increasing their run and when I do they will have access to it.

Thanks again

As others have said it is edible by the birds and humans. The raw berries have a anise taste to them. I have hundreds of them here.they are basically weeds.

Well I gave some of the Beauty Berries to the chickens, they seem to like them. I'll give them in limited quantities to avoid problems of too many berries.
