Idaho?

Oh man birdguy, that is frustrating! Reminds me of all those people from Cali moving to tetonia and then getting mad about how the garbage pickup and snow plowing was, in a RURAL county! Sheesh.. I personally enjoy all the noises farm animals make, its part of what makes them enjoyable to have... I really hope you can work something out with them, maybe you should gift them a peafowl, lol.. ok, maybe that won't work, maybe some of that delish pork meat you're going to have... black bears and mtn lions have been seen out there? Yeesh, it's not really that far from my house, lol!

had to take a pic of the eggs from my laying flock today... reminded me of spring...
Hey, I resemble that Cali, although I'm loath to admit it. There are so many that give us good ones a bad name!!! Grrrrr.....

I know how Birdguy feels, my neighbors aren't thrilled about my new dog that's more protective of my yard. Well yeesh, I have goats, chickens, and a llama and doors that don't lock right. We're going to move the pups to the other side of the house to help, but I do want them barking at people, it's their job. The other dog might bark, but give her a steak and you could clean the place out! :)

I am with daloorashens and pawtraitart... the more peacocks the merrier.

Now I found bugs that are orangeish and about half an inch or less crawling on my hen that I thought was egg bound but now I think it is bugs, I already have a plan of action but was wondering what products you guys suggested in using to send the blighters packing.

I am about ready to cry and then go hide under my covers.

wow those are big bugs. I haven't had anything like that. We did have the mites once and I dusted the hem with mite dust and then cleaned the house and white washed the walls and everything in it with the diatinacious earth. Not spelled right. I have never had anymore after that. The nest boxes are bad for harboring bugs so they always get a heavy coat in the spring and fall. Micki

They are lice, as soon as I can I will go to the feed store and get some Poultry dust and DE.
Is it normal if the chicken throws up and won't eat or drink? She is nothing but skin, bones and feathers.

No, it's not normal. Your bird needs to be in a heated crate ASAP if she's not already.

I agree, it is not normal. I think something else might be going on in addition to the lice, but I am not an expert. Heck I never even new chickens could through up!

I had her in a crate with a blow dryer blowing in on the lowest setting but it was to no avail before I could get a vet called she died while I was trying to smother all the nasty Lice eggs I found on her.

Lice are just horrible, they never completely go away! So sorry for your loss!
