Idaho?

Ok I have an idea on your wire. Go to your local farm store and ask them to order it for you. :D I have never done that but I have heard of people doing it. That way no shipping!!
Oh and you are checking craigsllist?

I will try that tomorrow! If it doesn't work I did find a place online that with shipping it will be $35 and that I can handle if I must!

I also spent the day painting my coop and putting in the flooring! I am pretty excited, it is starting to look lovely now. I am currently working on the ladder into the coop (dad is cutting the pieces for me) and will get that built tonight just deciding if I should paint it as well or not. There is a few more things we want to do to the coop before we say it is a go for decorating (w/ bedding). We want to build a different roost. I requested it be built with one full side door opening so the roost bar they placed in it is really wonky and unstable and my dad just doesn't like it so he is going to build a sturdy unwonky one for it. I am also going to add a lip to it for the cleaning door so when I open it bedding doesn't come falling out like a land slide. Then we should be good!

I painted it barn red (fence paint from walmart for $14 a gallon, woot!) It will also have white trim... once they get the white back in stock. I also want to get some black... that way I can write on it... I want to paint a "sign" above my nest boxes on the outside...

Will post pictures tonight hopefully of my progress!

I got mine from Lowes when I built my run, they have 5 ft rolls of it. If you don't find any there just ask one of the clerks and they should be able to find some for you.

I saw your boy Henry last night, he is soooooo pretty! Very jealous, I would love to have a pretty roo like him

Mini ranch outside of Boise near Kuna...Hello!
Welcome!!!

Good luck on your run, Robbo... that predator-proofing thing can be a real challenge!! I've read of some people, on the bottom, put the wire flat on the ground about 18-24 inches out all the way around the runs, then cover that with pea gravel or something like that, the predators aren't smart enough to go 18-24" away from the edge to try and dig in, sounds easier than digging a hole all the way around... As far as the top is concerned... sounds like you have gotten some good advice already!!

Yay! D&B sells the 6ft chicken wire (though they call it hexi wire) it just isn't found *in* the store because it is so tall. They keep it out back where customers don't go! I am glad I asked! Picking some up tomorrow.

yeah hexi wire is good thats the name i was trying to think of.. that is what i have on top of my coop well dog run.. and let you know my hand made Gheato Arse coop has kept the coon out really well.. and yes putting wire out on the ground around the outside of my run has kept the coon out as well i havent put gravel over it but i have about 1-1.5 ft of wire out on the ground and its all posted down so its unable to be lifted and the nasty coon that comes to my house everynight hasnt figured out how to get into my coop yet
