I am in the Idaho Falls area, kind of out of the way if you go on the freeway up to Burley... there are a few of us that go back and forth to UT, I'm sure we can find a way to get him transported if Sphinx wants the cockerel...

Found my first chick "riding the rails" this afternoon... sheesh... I have eggs due to go into lockdown tonite and I went to check the humidity and there's a little Easter Egger chick wandering around on the opposite side of the bator from where it hatched, what??? And it was almost dry, too!!

I'm still trying to figure out what happened, I went and looked at the calendar, AGAIN, counted, AGAIN and they are due for lockdown today,
weird...

The only thing I can figure is I had a small hatch last week (thursday) and those were from eggs that had been under broodies that flaked out on me, so I put them in the bator just in case, some of course quit, but 2 chicks ended up hatching... then I set a bigger group the week after that (the ones due for lockdown tonite)... so is it possible that I somehow mislabeled one of those that had been under a broody, it had started developing, I put it in with the next group and then it finished and hatched this much earlier?? Seems like they aren't that hardy, so hmmmmmm

Mesha I have had this happen...I wondered if the egg had started developing before I set it for some reason, like sitting under the hen too long or being a day old egg in the coop and not realizing it..i had shipped eggs last summer come, and two were veining when i set them, I candled to check air cells...one actually hatched (they had been shipped during the warm months, so weird still it would develop though) and it hatched 5 days before the others, it was not even at lockdown yet! Weird!

My parents will be here on Thursday and Friday... I'll bet I could bribe them into taking the little guy down to Cache Valley if that helps get him to Sphinx... Lisa???

Yep, that's kinda out of the way to Pawtraitart's...lol. Husband's coming on that trip and he might just commit me instead if we go to Paul via Idaho Falls...

I would love to babysit him for Sphinx. Desert Springs is coming through here on Saturday, she might be able to meet Sphinxon her way back south...will get on the UT thread and see. Either way for sure you could have your folks bring him to me, you can give them my number

LOL, you guys are AWESOME!! and really pretty funny at the same time!! Holy cow, that guys is going to get quite the ride, will get to meet lots of peeps along the way, haha Is Sphinx in the Layton area??

I have 2 more chicks pipped as I moved them to lockdown, ACK!!! Now I'm seriously scratching my head about the date I wrote down... but also now a little worried about the others, especially my Marans eggs and some shipped eggs that were in the same group

I hope they do ok... I try to be so careful when I write down those dates, sheesh!
