Idaho?

With 8 acres to run around on, the boys have a fantastic summer. The ducks get their turn to free range, too. It's especially fun when we are irrigating as we flood and it's neat to see them swimming and splashing in the pasture. Surprisingly, the turkeys also like the water. They don't swim, but they like to wade in the shallow water to cool their feet. :)

I've got:

Hens:
Bridget, Australorp
Cordelenna, Red Star
Noisy, all black EE who looks like she's a Ameraucana but puts out a brown egg
Golden Feathers, a buff Ameraucana
Snow, a white Ameraucana

Roo:
Moe the Roo who is Snow's guy and is a white Ameraucana

Lucy the Light Brahma pullet and Houdini the RIR Cockerel, who are inseperable :)

The other pullets:
Summer, a Welsumer
Liberty, a BLRW
Zebree, a Barred Rock
Topaz, a Red Star
Pretty, a Black Sex Link
And just got this morning from pips&peeps a Silver Sussex who hasn't been named yet

The cockerels who were SUPPOSED to be pullets:

Owen, an EE who will stay because he's gonna be gorgeous as long as he's nice....
Hinky, an EE with a crossbeak
Red, a RIR
The last two are probably headed to freezer camp... That's a lotta roo otherwise.

Here's my weed setup, I call it Chicken Salad Bar! I stuff them all in a bin with some dirt on the bottom and fill it with water. Keeps them fresh and they eat more of it.

Fun chickens!! I love the chicken salad bar!! Great idea!!

I didn't know turkeys like water, interesting!!! You have horses too, right?? And goats?? (or am I thinking of someone else??) So, how many of those cockerels do you have running around out there? Do you worry about penning them up at night, or just let them do their chicken thing?

Susan.. how did you get the hen from pips and peeps??

Thanks! It encourages me to actually weed the place!!!

Hi All,
My father and step-mother live in Blackfoot, Idaho. They would like to have some chickens to raise.
I would like to get some for them.
Any ideas in the area for them?
They would be okay with chicks but POL would be better.
We're driving out there later this month, but I really don't want to travel that far with hens.
We will be stopping over in Salt Lake City also. so that is an option

I have some just started laying pullets that I would love to sell to make room for my younger pullets and chicks!! PM me for details!! I live in Idaho Falls, it would be very easy to meet up, I have 3-4 I could sell, also, birdguy is also here in IF, I KNOW he has extras he would love to sell, as well... (He has a barn with over 100 chickens, according to him only 25 hens, because all the rest are either chicks, pullets or hens under 1 yr=)

Hi there everyone....great idea Daloorashens, you know there are a bunch of us Idahoans just looking for others to bird talk with. "Birds of a feather flock together".

My name is Cathy, and I live outside of Blackfoot. Glad to see my friends here and I'd love to meet more of you.

My mom lives in Blackfoot, I grew up there....if you need any birds from Utah I am coming up in a couple weeks to bring some other people birds and could drive them. I may have some Barred Rock, EE, I am hatching some now, will post to let everybody know what is for sale before I head that way :) I go to Blackfoot a lot and am always willing to bring chicks/chickens if they need a ride. I think there are some sizzles and silkies for sale on the Utah thread, if you like those you could post there.

Rfunnyfarms----I met you at Chickenstock, what a cutie, and you had some fun roos! Good to see you on here :D
