Yep. I keep thinking there ought to be a WashIdaMont group here for us northerners, it's only a little over an hour drive from the WA border to the MT border across the state up here. Do it all winter to snowboard at Lookout Pass

We have six older hens.. buff orpintons (sp?) and barred rocks. New this spring are three three Old English bantams. Man they are tiny.
and two americanas from the neighbor and two dark red "unknowns" again from the neighbor. He got carried away at the feed store
and ended up with 20 chickens.

I guess that makes sense, then!! It is pretty narrow up there in Northern Idaho... Susan, maybe you should start a thread for your peeps up there... I frequent the Utah thread, too, since we're so close here plus DH's family is in northern UT..

Pips and Peeps... how often do you have Blue Wheaten hatching eggs available?? From the looks of your site it sounds not too often, or do you have a waiting list? The pics of your birds are sure pretty on your website!

We live in Emmett and have an small existing flock of 5 hens and a rooster, and have added 10 chicks born in April to the flock... unfortunately, some are now crowing... soo... we will definitely have a diverse group.

It’s been a while since I posted to this fourm. Been real busy the past couple years.

I love incubating eggs and Love my Heritage Turkeys!​

We have had Poultry for about 8 years now Started out with Gold & Silver Laced Wyandottes & Buff Orpingtons. We have never sold an egg to eat but give them to family and friends. Then we got Heritage Turkeys, then Silver Appleyard Ducks, then Sebastopol Geese. I started out incubating our eggs with a small incubator and giving the chicks to neighbors, family & friends and keeping a few to ad to the flocks. For the past 3 years I have expanded to Large GQF Incubators & hatchers started doing Custom Incubating for other people as well as incubating our eggs and selling the chicks. The past 2 years I have hatched over 1500 birds each year (Chicken, Turkey, Duck, Geese, Quail, Pheasants, and Chucker). This year we concentrated on our Blue, Black & Splash Orpingtons and Blue Laced Red Wyandottes from our flock and of course our Heritage Turkeys and a few of our Silver Appleyard Ducks as well. We also added a group of Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons (from Greenfire Farms) that we hope to have producing for next year.

I’ve wound down my incubating of our eggs for this year and still have about 30 to 40 Turkey Poults to get rid of. That’s not too bad for hatching about 400 Poults this year.

Anyway Daloorashens Pm’ed me and asked me to update in the Idaho Group so here I am!

Just wanted to say hi from Caldwell, Idaho. Glad to see there are so many people from the area on here! My husband and I just recently bought a house in the Canyon Hill area after serving in the Navy for way too long. We were stationed in San Diego but I'm originally from NY and he is from MN.

We are now the owners of one of each: Buff Orpington, SLW, Light Brahma, and a Golden Sex-Link. We just got them yesterday so they are very skittish with us and we'll just be waiting for them to warm up to their new family as time passes.

Is this a good place to post pics of the coop and birds?

The pic on my post is one of the chicks we bought from you, Kevin... we just love them and they are running around like crazy, eating every bug they can find, and three of them out of the 10 are starting to crow... I would really like to keep all of them, and I think until there is some trouble, that's what I am going to do.. We ended up with one blue laced red Wyandotte rooster, three golden laced hens, two splash blue orpintons, a black orpington roo & hen, and a blue orpington hen and roo.. so all in all I think we did pretty well. will post pics ... thanks again for really healthy chicks...
