Exactly, I wasn't expecting show quality birds either but sheesh man Ya can't give those birds away looking as ratty as they did. I lost a few too within the first few weeks but I expected to loose a few during shipping and I did, of course they were the ones I wanted the most.... I ordered from Mcmurrays too before and I have to admit their quality was pretty impressive but the overall health of the babies was horrible and I ended up loosing 27 in the first week! That pretty much wiped out over half of my order but they did refund us for the lost chicks but didn't come close to the emotional trauma I went thru trying desperately to save them.

All my Ideal chicks lived and it was my first order ever. Not the best quality but I love them and they produce lots of nice eggs and our Orloff and Sussex are hoots and VERY friendly!

Ideal called me back and gave me a ship date of March 17th...yay!!! Even sooner than last year.

I got the 25 bantam special in august and they werent bad. Got some really pretty ones and a few small ones. Here are some pics

these are the nice ones. I think they were worth the 99cents each

I placed my order with Ideal last Friday for 12 pullets: 2 Ameraucanas (Easter Eggers), 2 Black Australorps, 2 Delawares, 2 Speckled Sussex, 2 Welsummers and 2 Gold Sex Links. They have a shipping date of March 10. This is my first ever order. The chickens I have now were given to me by a neighbor who was moving. They are on the older side and not reliable layers any more. The new girls will take over the egg-laying job, while the old girls get to enjoy retirement. They have a loving home until they die of old age. My DH and I are building a new coop for the new girls, so hopefully it will be complete by the time they are ready to go outside.

Wow, sorry you guys got bad orders. Both of my orders turned out some really nice birds, I have been really pleased with them all. Last Springs order was a little rough, due to a cold snap when they were due to arrive, of course. But I ended up with some really nice birds and they are all sweet natured also. Which is why I am definitely ordering from them again. But then I am not looking for show quality birds like many are on here.
