If the ee's are all pullets..... And I have a fertilized egg......

The reason I think that blue EE is a roo is because the hackle feathers look pointed and the tail is a bit long and the longest feathers looks like it is starting to curve. EE roos usually don't have big combs and wattles and they are usually slow to develop. However, I could very well be wrong. The "Other RIR" looks like it has pointy hackle feathers, but don't RIRs usually get big combs and wattles? And for some reason, it looks hen-ish to me.

And yes, I do see my contradictory statements that the EE looks roo-ish because of pointy hackle feathers and that the RIR look hen-ish despite the pointy hackle feathers.

I do agree with PotterWatch regarding posting other eggs. That'd help solve the "is there a roo" question before the "who's the roo?".

The EE in question is already 20 weeks old and even though EEs have smaller pea combs, a 20 week old EE cockerel would have a much larger and redder comb than she does. Her comb isn't any larger than the OP's other EE pullets. I know some still have some doubts, but I'm still sure that she is a pullet.

The 19 week old EE pictured below also has a long tail, what looks like pointed hackle feathers, and a comb about the same size as the 20 week old mystery EE. This pullet is now 11 months old and has now been laying for months (picture was taken before she started laying).

I have a question.....4th pic(original post) ....what kind of chickenbutt is that? I have a turken that looks like that.

I say they are all hens. If you had a fertilized egg(from one of these birds), you would have heard a crow by now. All my roosters have crowed before they began actually mating the hens.

In fact, after I saw him breeding the BO I still wondered if it was a case of "dominate hen" because he didn't have hackle or saddle feathers, and no crowing.

I ended up with his brother, too. Now he looked like a roo a lot earlier than my blue one. He matured months before the blue one. Maybe the blues mature slower? The brother is a beautiful black and white.

Arizona-No, I think your hen looks like a hen.

EE's have fluffier tails, but she doesn't have the longer feathers that curve around to the front of the neck, right before the pointy hackle feathers start coming in. Also, at the base of her tail, she is fully feathered. No downy fluff is showing. The males will have that for a while before they get their saddle feathers.

I'm still betting it's the blue EE.

Those are most definitely all hens. Can you post a picture of the fertilized egg? Sometimes a fertilized egg is very similiar in appearance to a non-fertilized egg.

Also, does a neighbor have a sneaky roo?

One way to know for sure if they are fertile - put them in the incubator.

I go to sleep for a few hours & have loads of responses, LOL. If I don't respond to a question, please repost it, as I'm going to do the best I can.

No, I don't have a turken.

The pic of the fertilised egg is linked in the OP

No one else has chickens around here. I don't even think these people know where to get fresh eggs. I also have a 6' fence lined with trees, & they range for about 2 hours each night IF we're home. No chickens in, no chickens out.

The blue EE actually has a smaller comb & less pink then #2 EE in the other thread. The blue EE is the smallest chicken I have, even though my EE's are older by one week than the standards.

I've only had the one single egg so far, so I can't incubate, I can't compare. Now the one egg WAS a dbl yolker, and only one of the yolks was fert. Is this possible or will ALL eggs & yolks be fertilised?

Dawnsuiter- why do your suspicions lead you to the RIR being a roo? I'll need to look closer if I know what I'm looking for.

I will try to get some pics of ee combs today. All of them if I can, for comparison. I will also grab a pic of Brownie (the RIR from the roost) from side view.

Thank you all for your input. This has been confusing & difficult at best. I'm glad I'm not the only one with a question mark. Makes this beginner feel better
