I have 3 confirmed hens.....

Both of my RIR's & my BR have all laid. YAY!

Chickmunk (#2):

is doing the mounting squat. I'm talking I scratch her lower back & she dances & stomps her little chicken feet. She quivers, etc. Today I went out & she was in the nest box going NUTS- bokbokbokbokbokbagok.... On & on. So I'm 99.9% sure she's a girl. Hopefully I'll know 110% today from the way she's acting.

Blue (#3), who was up in the air, is still up in the air, but unless (s)he's confused about her gender, is also thinking I'm "her" rooster. (S)he also gets into the squat. Not as much as Chickmunk, but nonetheless. So I'm hoping soon, that I'll know if blue (not its name yet, until I figure out gender) is a he or she. AKA- waiting for eggs. <<optimistic

#1 has shown nothing yet. I think (s)he's done something of the mounting squat, but TBH, (s)he's been a little more difficult to decipher if it's a squat or annoyance or whatever.....


PS- we're getting 2-3 eggs a day now!!!

If blue is doing the squat too, then I say girl. I have never seen a roo do the squat.

Yes, she is a girl. I find it amazing so many tried to say it's a boy.. there's just no mistaking her as a girl, even in that picture with her all blurry.(that's the same bird in question right?)

The super blurry one is #3/Blue, yes. I'm waiting. I think I'm more excited to have gotten at least one girl so far from my ee's. They were open stock birds & I'm the one that picked them. Almost a one eye open thing, hoping for some girls, LOL

I have a BO investigating the nest now too, but not one of them BO's has been interested in squatting. Surprisingly my BO's are the MOST standoffish of all my chickens. One may have laid, but I wasn't here, so I'm not sure which chicken is the culprit. I had Brownie (RIR) lay, Chickmunk (EE) & a 3rd one.

how terrible that you don't know what one is a roo, I have a bunch of chicks, only one is a roo... that is the second time I goty a mistake roo, but enough about me, All of them look like girls, but one of the buffs is what I would think..... it looks big-combed-ish
