If you are warmer than -58........

-60 is as cold as I have ever found them. Here is a pic from a bit ago (a few days after Thanksgiving) on my moms deck

That is EXACTLY what I was thinking! While everywhere is getting the cold front, we've been getting the heat wave. Can I share it with all ya'll who are sick of the cold? I have trees trying to bloom and if this heat keeps up, the sap is gonna freeze when the cold comes back and they'll die. I lost a cherry tree and asian pear to this a few years ago..but it was March, not January! We've been in the mid to high 60s during the day and 30s at night....down the hill (which is SoCal terms for the going over the mtn pass and down into the valley and coastal areas) has been a HOT 70s-80s! Shorts and t-shirts are not suppose to be worn in January! No wonder we're in a drought!

As for -58 degrees F...no thanks.

You must be tough to be able handle that weather!

Can we all just have something in between? I'm thinking 40s - 50s for the highs and below freezing at night. That sounds like a perfect winter day! Snow can stick, but not hang out for months on end.

Yea, we have that dry cold and wind chill. I'm freezing at 40 here and my nose feels like it is gonna break off. But, in Idaho 0 degree weather with a wind chill factor of 8 below and I am perfectly fine in a jacket.

But, -58?!?! Does wind chill even matter at that point? Or if it is a wet or dry cold? That is just "behind" cold no matter how you look at it!

To the OP- do you shear your alpacas? I'm wishing we wouldn't have done ours this year- they won't even come outside except for their pellets. I'm going to get a few of those panel heaters for next year. If they work for you, I'm convinced!

And no more whining- we'll be sloshing around in mud come Wednesday

Are you telling me I’m not allowed to feed anymore in a sweatshirt and shorts?

Lol That’s the normal up until about -40 then I put on a coat and sweats.

To tell the truth anything after about -40 doesn’t feel all that much colder. You just freeze faster i.e. your hands get stiff, your nose hairs turn to ice in a nano second, Ooo or your ear suddenly remember you have small pieces of metal stuck in them.

But hey whatever works right!
