If you could only have two breeds, what would they be?

Black Aussie and RIR.

Consistent and proliferant egg layers, hardy as all get out, beautiful birds and quirky personalities. I have a young RIR pullet right now that likes to perch on my sheep, Black Betty. I've tried to get a pic but keep missing the opportunity!

I love reading everyone answers. This is so hard to choose.

For me EE's because I love their colors and egg color, and it's always a surprise what you will get.

and Plymouth rocks, beautiful, great personalities and wonderful layers.

I have 10 chickens and 7 breeds so choosing between 2 isn't easy for me. But if I could only have 2, I would pick Buff Orpington and Dominique - they like to sit in my lap.

Barnevelders- because of their beautiful lacing pattern.

Easter Eggers- because of the wide range of "non-standard" colors. Every bird is different. I had 2 and they were great layers of green to blue eggs.

I bought 9 birds, all of different breeds, and hands down, number 1 is my Brahma. We have a mutual love of each other.

Number 2 is my buff orpington (who is the friendliest girl I have) but the blue cochin is right on her tail. She's just so fluffy and adorable - and so BLUE!
