i got my baby chicks from tractor supply and now they are laying eggs. i've heard tales that say the give the chick a special medicine so you cant incubate their eggs so u have to go buy more. is this true? cuz i rlly want some more baby chicks.

I've never heard that! Yes, as long as you have a rooster so that the eggs are fertile, you can incubate them.

I would say there is no truth to that. Of course, you need to have a rooster to fertilize the eggs, but other than that you should be fine. Urban myth.

Also consider the age of the girls when you callect the eggs for hatching; you'll see eggs for sale from reputable breeders are from hens 1-2 years old. Younger hens apparently don't produce the best eggs for hatching.

Quote:Did you give up after 2 weeks? Chicken eggs take 21 days to hatch, give or take a few.
