Oh and also, it seems like since my hens have more room, the Australorps are not as mean and they let the other hens closer while eating treats whereas they used to chase them off sometimes. So maybe it really was just a space issue...

I own brahma hens and I love them, there calm and I have never had problems with them bullying other breeds, they also lay werry well, I only own 5 and I'm some times getting 5 egg a day.
I don't know anything about the rest of the breeds you mentioned but I just got light Sussex fertile eggs my self and I own 2 light Sussex chicks and I love them, but I don't know tho how there going to be in the future, I'm just trying out my self how this breed is but so far with this 3 weeks old chicks, they run to me and I can pet them so, so far so good

but if you want me to recommend a breed that you didn't mention then that would be marans, there eggs are beautiful dark brown and there good layers, the lohmann is also good breed, they lay brown eggs to but not as brown as the maran and they really good layer to but some say there bullies but I have never see my lohmann hens bully any hens tho.

Interestingly, when I had my Wyandotte troubles, it turned out to be a space issue. Some chickens don't like sharing small spaces I guess. None of my Orps mind, but they are rather lazy girls compared to the Rocks and Dottes I had.

Thanks for the info!! If the Brahmas are good layers then I think I will have to get some. :)

Yeah, I think certain breeds need more room or at least like personal space for sure. And some are intelligent or very active or whatever.

From your list I have only had Silver Laced Wyandottes and Welsumers, the welsumers are still maturing so no opinion on them yet. The Silver Laced Wyndottes were by far the best looking chickens I have ever had.

The Silver Laced are definitely incredibly striking which is part of why I like them so much!!

Go for standard Cochins. They’re not good layers, but their personality and size make up for it. Not many animals will go for a 14 pound rooster. They make amazing mothers. In my experience they are heat and cold resistant. My summers go to 110 and my Cochins do fine. My standard is the nicest chicken I’ve ever seen. Her favorite pastime is napping in my lap.

Aww they sound like such sweet birds!! And I notice the Cochin comes in partridge. :D

Out of your list, I would add Wyandottes. I have a silver laced and a golden laced. Neither of them are mean at all. The silver laced is a bit more skittish than some of my other chickens, as in, it is harder for me to get her to let me pick her up and hold her, but she has never done anything mean to other chickens that I have seen. My golden laced is one of the friendliest chickens I have, to me and other birds.

I have only had one speckled sussex and she, unfortunately "went missing" (read as "was likely eaten by a hawk") after only a few months of having her. She was one of the prettiest in my flock, but she was very skittish. I still would have gotten another had they been an option when I was picking out more chicks this year.

I have two cochins and they are very friendly and docile. The best rooster I have ever had is a cochin. He does very well at alerting the others about predators (and airplanes) and isn't too mean to his flock. He's only been a little aggressive with me, but never actually attacked, as some of the roos I've had in the past have. I adore buff orpingtons the most out of all chicken breeds, as they are most friendly. I have also found white leghorns to be very friendly. I have had two in the past and have one that is a couple months old right now. (S)he follows me all around the yard, just like my orpington.

I doubt I helped you narrow this down much, since I also have issues with narrowing down which breeds to choose. Overall, if you could only add three or four more, I'd go with a cochin, another orpington (because they are friendly and mine have always layed very well), some sort of laced wyandotte, and a leghorn. :)

If your looking for a friendly chicken Who just adores being fed treats well...
I suggest a barred wyandotte! This chickens are just adorable and will be a great addition to the family!
