Have any breeders deliberately tried to breed for peafowl homozygous for two different colors? I have not heard of this yet. Just a couple paired similar to the pair mentioned- pairs of different colors/splits throwing birds split for two colors but no "further" than this.

Would love to take you up on the eggs- love a genetics challenge or just plain good old genetics study lesson, but not sure about trying shipped peaeggs again- me and a local friend always have horrible luck with these. Plus going to Hawaii later this month. Let me talk to friend and see if he is up to giving shipped eggs another go.

Have been occasionally entertaining the idea of crossing one of my opals with a purple(don't have any cameo and the only other color here is bronze- only 3 of them so no playing around with those yet) with the intent to create homozygous opal and purple to see what "color" they would be. Too late to do it this year, maybe next year.

Have not been following up on Peach.. is it true that it seems to pop up occasionally from different cameos?

Close up of bronze tail.. so shiny camera cannot capture the color very accurately(rich chocolate brown).. Also something else I was not aware of- there is a soft rose colored ring around the eye.
