Anyone looking for some sweet hens or roosters for pets or show? I am not going to have chickens any more. I want to stick to my ducks and geese that I have. I want to give them a good home. All my birds are show quality or close to it. I bought all my birds from the shows or from a breeder. If you are interested in anything i have send me a message.

I have:
trio of white Wyandottes
2 buttercup hens
pair of Red Cochins ( rooster is a frizzle)

I also have two lonely call ducks drakes. they are both sweet and last years hatch.

I am also looking for marans! Hopefully a breeding pair. I also have four RIR's thats for sale if anyone is interested. Going for 6 each. They are almost a year old and they are going through their first molt. I'm in peoria.

Still looking for Marans? Pretty cold out there now, but you might contact me in a couple months when it warms up. I have a gorgeous Silver Splash Marans rooster that might end up in the freezer. I would prefer to keep him if I can figure out how to handle his behavior. Let me know if you are interested.

I will be looking for some local hatching eggs this spring and was wondering about some of the best ways to go about buying them. I see eggs on eBay, but I'm nervous about the effects of shipping. Are there any Chicagoland poultry shows / swaps / farmers markets? Craigslist? Are there more egg buying opportunities in April & I just relax / wait?

My students hatched some great barnyard mixes as part of last year's science class. (I ended up keeping some of the "results".) This time it's for my daughter's 4-H project, as well as my embryology class. Her top 2 fav breeds are Cream Legbars and Welsummers. The eggs will be started on April 30th, so I'm only looking for possible sources right now.

I am curious also I have found a great resource for barn yard mixes but would like some pure breds as well I have heard you can usually find birds for sale at poultry shows but what about hatching eggs? Let me know if you are interested in some barn yard mixes and I can put you in touch with him I have 24 of his eggs in the bator. I also ordered a dozen off ebay and they are not looking good at day 10 I may have two that might make it

I have fertile eggs I can share. Perhaps we can meet depending on where you are in Illinois. I have 2 roosters, an Araucana and a Marans (who is in jail right now). There is a poultry show/swap in Waterloo IA in March, another near St. Louis which is too far for me.

Good luck!

Where are you located at? Would they be pure bred eggs?

I am looking for ways to buy some purebred eggs just in case my daughter wants to show them in the future. It would also make it easier to give any extra chicks away. We live in the western suburbs of Chicago. Welsummer & Cream Legbar are her favs.

Though, I have to admit that the mixes are terrific in every other way. I just have to share my excitement:
Less than 1 month ago, we got our 1st egg - during the polar vortex. The same pullet has made 17 eggs (in 21 days) & the other pullet laid 10 huge eggs in 15 days. You would think I laid them by all my excitement. The Ameruacana in mix gives such a pretty look & friendly personality. They are smart, easily trained, and enjoy human snuggles. I had always hatched White Leghorns in the past & never knew chickens could be so much fun.
