Illinois...

We lost two turkeys the other day. :hit It was completely out of the blue. 1 white (calico or palm?) and 1 brown (Narraganset?) died and the same number remaining (had two of each). They were in the run when DW found them laying on the ground. No wounds and no signs of blackhead. She placed them in the shed and I got to them the next day to check them out. They were slightly skinny. There was some running poop at their vents and their eyes sunk in and the eyelids looked bruised a bit, but these things may be from them sitting for 24 hours. There were no other signs of distress of or disease though. I check the other birds and they are well except for a case of bumblefoot in a chicken. Poop boards show signs of healthy poop and everybody appears to be eating and drinking fine. My only thought is these two were possibly not being allowed to get to the feed enough and they were stuck outside on a cold (in the 20s) night so they froze because they didn't have the calories to stay warm.

Below is my fav lav orp.
I think she laid her 1st egg today. (She's been checking out the coop & nest boxes. Then I found an egg under her roost tonight. )

.... and just because, I have to share her enormous butt fluff.
She's so wide that she cannot walk through the chicken doors without it brushing against the sides.

:gig Love the look on the leghorn. Is that millie or tillie?

They really do have big flufft butts. I know mine are close to laying, but still waiting. My orp eggs have turned out to be my schizo lav Perry. But the bb's combs and wattles are SOOO red!!!

Another new thing.....
My lav cockerel which i assumed would be second in command has been cast to the bottom of the heap pile. His new nemesis is none other that my sweet Taji. Blackbeard was also beating up on him a little this morning. But Taj really doesn't like him. Oh the drama! The poor little laced cockerel is all alone. Quietly hiding in the corners. Or my arms when I'm out there. Take your pick. He's oh so sweet.

It's Millie.
Tillie looks like she went to the underworld & back. Tillie skipped laying 2 days in a row, so perhaps she's finally taking my advice & taking a break. No loss of feathers yet. Perhaps she'll be like DS's 1st Leghorn mix, "Firefighter." FF would have 100+ day egg streaks, miss 1 day, & then do another 100+ day streak. When she eventually did molt, she merely slowed down for 2-3 months ( giving 3-4 eggs per week) while she gradually lost / replaced her feathers.

Your new laced cockerel sounds a lot like our former "Puppy." He wasn't getting beat up but he did always follow us around & wanted cuddles. He was lower in the pecking order, knew his place, and lived for his daily hugs from his humans. Even at 15 months, he acted like his usual lovable self and never went through that testing phase. (Or perhaps he did & the mature roos disciplined him for me) He was one of those very special roos that I couldn't get myself to eat, so he stuck around until I could find him a home. This was our "Puppy":

Sorry your lav boy is getting beat up. I'm guessing it's because the roosters now feel he's a threat. If he keeps his head down & stays out of trouble, they should leave him alone. Thankfully, orps are not usually aggressive and the pecking order gets sorted out pretty easily.

Oh. As I sit here & type.... guess who's keeping me company?
She's still my little house chicken.

Your new hen is adorable, and I think 'Rotisserie' would be a great name. If you want a companion for her, just let me know. (I have 2 extra female seramas looking for a new home. Hatched 12-2-18 They are named Sesame & Kung Pao .... last name "Chicken")
