Illinois...

Sad news to report. Little Zoom took a wrong turn yesterday. Perhaps it was just too much stress to be a lonely only. I found it cold & away from the heating pad. I moved it back under & it perked up after being warmed. Once revived, it drank but didn't eat.

This morning it seemed weak. Walking but not running up to my hand. Again it drank with my prompting but didn't eat. Not sure why it was running, eating & pooping normally yesterday morning but then stopped. It died this afternoon.

Poor DS cried. He really liked his quail, but hopefully the current quail eggs in the incubator will have a better hatch.

Oh no!

Schlecht Hatchery outside Miles, Iowa.
They have a website.
I‘ve been getting cornish x meat birds from them for years and highly recommend them. They don’t have the large variety of the big hatcheries but their customer service can’t be beat. They ship chicks but I prefer to pick them up to save the stress of shipping. A friend (and DH once) and I make a morning out of driving over to get them.
