...I am new to the BYC Forum and am very seriously considering getting a few hens for our backyard. Before I take the leap (which includes getting my landlord on board), I would like to see some urban chicken raising firsthand. Does anyone in Chicago have chickens and would be willing for me to come take a peek at your setup? I just want to be sure I do the research and see it up close before I commit.

Callista, there are a few Chicagoans having chicken coops. Hope you can find a few that would help you!

I've been trying to get certifications for health so I can show. Looks like the only way I can do this is to get certified NPIP by the state and then certified to do the yearly testing myself. I've signed up for classes for myself and have an inspector comming from the state to check the flock. Anyone else in my area having a hard time or do I not know the resources?
