I had a RIR that started molting in December and didn't fully fill in until May or June. No eggs the whole time. It was so frustrating. Now she's back to her lazy 2 a week schedule. And she's barely two. My mother in law keeps saying that she wants to be a soup.

What a slacker , yeppers she needs to be soup.... I know you wouldn't

@Justso hello! I feel like I haven't seen you post much. Or perhaps I overlooked... hope all is well. Or chickens are STILL enjoying the grit you shared with us last year. Seems to just last forever.

My 4mo old chicks look stunning. Time to move along the boys, though. I have a new neighbor that may take them for processing, so not a waste.
It's been a good summer for scaling back projects (ie letting the yard go and reducing the garden this year). I've enjoyed reading your stories, keep up the good work!

Okay guys sorry I haven't been in touch.

Mom is failing.

Her kidneys are still not working at all she's on continuous dialysis.

Her colon has been removed. Internal bleeding. Clotting issue.

This morning she went back in for a wash out where they clean out her abdomen and further check for bleeding.

Her spleen was bleeding it has been removed. Her liver was also bleeding it was cauterized as much as possible. She also has bleeding in her stomach.

The doctors are planning to reassess at 4.

If there is no marked improvement at that time we will be stopping all further treatments. We want her to pass peacefully with what's left of her dignity.

@Faraday40 sorry I haven't called you I don't get cell service at the hospital.

We took Mom off life support and she passed about 8:45 last night. It was very quick.

Been following. So very sorry. It's very hard losing a parent. My heart felt sympathy to all.
