I vote black zip ties...if one breaks it's easy to replace....I'm hoping to get the new netting up over the run this weekend if weather allows me the ability to comfortably work outside. Not sure if you recall, but I posted a month ago or so that snow buildup weighed the old netting down and it tore to the point that it's pretty useless for covering the run. I might hang on to the large remnants to cover our small peach tree though and possible other plants I need to protect from birds. It was cheap netting meant for that purpose anyway. The new net I purchased (several weeks ago and sitting in a box still...) is better quality and has a large weave/gapping that I'm hoping will allow snow and leaves to pass through easier (the only tree that hangs over part of the run has small leaves). I debating if I should zip tie it to the steal cables (already in place around the perimeter of the run to support the net) or use wrap paracord around the steal cable and through the netting. Another thought was run the steal cable through the netting, but this is not an option since I don't want to remove and rerun the steal cables.
Yea, I'm not buying a hundred carabiners... You make a good point on a zip tie being easily replaceable should it break. If a wrapped rope were to break it would be a pain to repair.I vote black zip ties...if one breaks it's easy to replace....
I have seen recommendations to use carabineer between net and cable....which would break the bank
Does she rock climb??? the 2 pix on right are from Savannah Il.My wife's aunt just moved to Savannah IL. She doesn't do chickens so this is generally irrelevant small talk!
I also vote zips.... A helpful hint,, wrap ziptie 2 or 3 times around cable, and netting rope, and it will have better holding and abrasion wear resistance from wind movement of netting.Yea, I'm not buying a hundred carabiners... Ha. The move to Savannah is the first time I've heard of her leaving Roselle at all. Awesome pics though. I may have to visit if Savannah looks like that. I love woods and terrain. Nearly grew up in starved rockDoes she rock climb??? the 2 pix on right are from Savannah Il.
