I think what makes a Bresse chicken good,,, is the final weeks special feeding diet. Maybe if you tried same with the CX, you may get good/similar taste results ..I want to try some time, as well as Bresse chicken

Hawks on the move
I was out wacking weeds about 20ft from the poultry yard. I stopped, heard an alert, a cooper hawk flew up from the poultry yard and roosted on the chain link poultry yard fence. Didn't move until I was 10 ft from it. Everyone seems ok
I hadn't seen one since last year
Wow that's brazen. I was pointing as I said bang bang and running.... wishing I wasn't just making sound effectsThey're so brazen! We had one land on the fence last summer. The chickens were in their run but my dogs were in the yard and the hawk didn't care. Dogs going crazy howling their heads off and trying to climb the fence to get at it and it just sat there watching.
I had the brilliant idea of giving DS a cap gun. He was instructed to use it whenever he saw a hawk and scare them away. Hawks never cared & rarely moved, but DS had some fun making noise. I used to bang pots and that at least made them look my direction (but not enough to leave my yard). The only thing that sort of works is a super-soaker. Not that it keeps hawks away for long..... but they don't like getting sprayed. It annoys them enough to fly away for a little while.Wow that's brazen. Yes this hawk was in the Part the turkeys don't go in this year.I had the brilliant idea of giving DS a cap gun. He was instructed to use it whenever he saw a hawk and scare them away. I remember once I saw a pretty big hawk sitting on top of my chick tractor. I charged at it and as I got closer I thought to myself, "She's not flying off.... What do I do if I get there and the hawk doesn't move??" I picked up a stick, threw it, and began barking. The hawk only flew a few feet. DH let the dog out and the dog took over chasing the hawk off.
I found turkeys are pretty good deterrents. I witnessed last year's males attack a hawk. The hawks must think twice before landing on the ground here. Hawks could still kill a chicken, but doubtful they'd get a chance to eat while being attacked by other large birds.
Here's a blast from the past. My handsome chicken protector:

You got me! I have no words.
LOL my turkeys would fly the coop if I walked up with a tutu. A different color bucket was entertaining for an hourYou got me! I have no words.
It was even better when I realized there was music to go with the video!
