Illinois...

Well, it's Christmas morning... a but of a mess here. I've been up since 1am. DD was sleeping with DW in our bed because DD had a cough last night. Then DS woke up not feeling well which is what roused me at 1am out of my recliner in the living room. Soon after, he was vomitting. 3 boughts of vomiting last night within an hour or so. No fever. He is congested though and that's what I believe woke him up and the post nasal drip is likely what messed up his stomach. Now he's sleeping fine for the past 4 hours roughly. DW and DD are also sleeping fine. I'm just sitting here tired and exhausted. However, my inner child is super excited that it's Christmas. I don't got much these days, but love seeing the family happy when they open their gifts.
I'm debating on breakfast... I was going to fix biscuits and gravy but DS asked for pancakes, and now that his stomach was messed up I'm not sure what to do. I think I'll wait until after everybody's up and gauge the situation then. I'm hoping for a fun, happy and healthy Christmas. We shall see...

It may be a breakfast of ginger ale and crackers, but it’s still Christmas. I hope you have good day.

Here, DS was up at 5:30. However he knew to let me sleep in until 6am.

My oven broke on Sunday so I had to visit a few friends with functional ovens to finish some cookies. We had Christmas Eve dinner of Giordanos pizza. Lol.

The oven was repaired yesterday afternoon for which I’m very grateful. I baked our traditional German stollen last night. Made it to bed by 11pm. A new 1st for me to finish Christmas preparations before midnight !

Turns out we have Covid. :(
We generally are safe. DW and I are vaccinated, we where masks and we don't go into crowds much. However, DW and I attended an ugly sweater party. It was not a huge party, but found out a few days later somebody at the party tested positive afterward. I went and took a test to be safe since I was having a cold it seemed.

The worst didn't hit until the yesterday. DS couldn't hold anything down yesterday. After a few courses of pepto, he's eating and drinking much better today. DD speed a fever. Morin and Tylenol regimen keeping that under control now. I couldn't stay awake for anything and that's still the case. I get up on the morning and then pass out again until 4pm both yesterday and today. DW is also suffering from fatigue, although she's somehow managing to have more energy than me. Sinus headache began last night for me and I think DD was having the same as she woke up 2 or 3 times crying with no apparent reason. Benadryl is now part of the regimen to dry out mucus. Our kitchen counter looks like a small pharmacy. Also, lots of pedialite drink and popsicles, honey, some coffee for caffiene when I can and whatever food we can manage to prepare to keep everybody fed.

Good news is today is better than yesterday and we are moving in the right direction.

Sorry to hear that, prayers for swift recovery 🙏
Do you have an O2 sensor...thingy that goes on your finger?

I do not have a pulse oximeter. I should order one from Walgreens and pick it up curbside. Breathing problems are currently not an issue though for any of us fortunately. The worst of the mucus build up and post nasal drip was the other night. The fear of mucus or fluid building up in lungs seems to be a minimum now. So not a bad idea to be safe though and get the meter.

Just ran across this,, Chickens and coop for sale. Oswego Il.
https://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/grd/d/oswego-chickens-for-sale/7423921835.html

No price on coop, but can inquire. 14 chickens $10 each,, but they want to sell all in one batch.

Nice coop, but would be a challenge to move unless disassembled. :old :idunno

Snowing here too. Not my thing but our son is loving it. Today he went out and made a snowman with the little kid next door. Then he shoveled a couple driveways & got paid $ from the neighbors. Guess whose driveway & sidewalk still has snow. ...... Yes, ours!
Hopefully it will melt. Good that he's earning$

I had a couple inches. Chickens were out when it started. 3 coops went back and one coop took cover in an old shed. Old ladies that were with them came back at sunset, I had to stomp a trail for the pullets.
Turkeys don't care about snow.
Yesterday a friend sent 2 turkeys back with his daughter. One was a jake that developed crooked toes. I had told him it would not be good for breeding. Out of the 5 poults I sent him 4 were jakes. He isn't able to emotionally do the deed , he named them and played with them. So I harvested it this morning before the snow started. The other one he sent back was a hen I sent with 2 other hens. The two other hens scalped her. Even though they have all been together for at least a year. She's hiding in a chicken coop, hopefully she will integrate back in.
