It's a Langshan cockerel, no doubt whatsoever now. You can see the beginnings of the pointed male sex feathers starting to grow on his back, which will grow down to become typical saddle feathers. The same type of feathers are starting to grow in the hackle, and his tail also has sickle feathers. I've never raised Langshans but they must be very slow to reach sexual maturity, like Javas. We are back. Here we are at 26 weeks old, no crow, no egg, no mating...still! I went away for a week and when I visited with the chickies today, I am now leaning toward a cockerel! Who takes 26 weeks to figure out the dang sex of a chicken! Why doesn't it crow? Or try to mate? Any of you still have any hopes of this being a pullet?
