Im devastated

Well the pics Im about to post look nothing like that but these birds are only a few months old. I also have a question about my BLRW chicks who are both the same age but 1 is developing very slow. I was told that it was most likely a roo so I figured I would throw them up for discussion as well

Spur nubs are not a reliable gender indicator. At 27 weeks, two of my Welsummer girls have much bigger spur nubs than my EE cockerel has (and no, there is no question about their genders).

Spurs are one of the last things to develop. You will know from other traits whether it is a boy or girl LONG before spurs would give a clue, and as stated, hens can also have spurs.

Some spurs are pointed like a needle, some are sharp like a blade and some are rather rounded. THey can grow straight out from the leg, curve upward, backward, downward, in a circle, etc. If you remove them, they are hollow inside.

The 2 BLRW chicks who are 4 weeks old. One is much smaller and very slow growing compared to the other

Smaller one first I am being told the slow to grow ones are Roo's

The Dellie and the EE are pullets, and I think both BLRW are cockerels. Too much red comb for 4 week old pullets.

Im so glad about my dellie Lady Bird gets to keep her name. I wonder if the lady I was talking to knew about birds other than 1 breed because she said if it has that bump where a spur would be its a roo. Well if that was the case cause I paniced and inspected every one of my birds 1 at a time, all 17 of my birds would be roos

You just made my night except for the BLRW's I really hope at least the darker bigger one is a pullet.

The BLRW's were typing too it was quite funny. Goldie almost posted in this thread while I was trying to take pics
