Corporations should have the same rights as the are legal "persons". The point of making a corporation a legal "person" is so they will also have the same liability as everyone else.
In this case Monsanto is either responsible for the contamination and therefore has that liability OR they are not responsible for the contamination and therefore have no legal claim to accidental genetically altered crops.
The farmer can not be held liable for copyright OR patent infringement unless he KNOWINGLY used Monsanto seed.
Poorly written article which contains mainly heresay from a very questionable source.
I am no fan of Monsanto (I feel that they are eventually going to narrow the gene pools of plants to a point where they are highly susceptible to blight etc...), but I'd like to see reports from a more reputable news source.
I'm so tired of right wing and left wing news.
What happened to the objectivity and integrity of journalism? I can't stand getting news with an agenda/opinion.
ok, i have heard enough. this year i am switching to heirloom seeds and no hybrids. sandhill preservation not only sells chicks but also have a large selection of heirloom seeds. i will give it three years to see if i can produce the same amount of vegetables with heirloom instead of the gene altered hybrids they are selling us in the seed catologs. i will save as many seeds as possible and sell some to local growers to see how they do.

And that's the bottom line of the whole deal folks. Monsanto is actually going to eventually own all the crops and that is what they are pushing for. In the future (which is closer than we think), Monsanto will own all farm crops, or will have their hands on them somehow or another.
I grew up on a completely organic farm mostly because there weren't a lot of ways to do anything other than that. Pretty much everyone planted from their own saved seeds. We did buy seed corn though. I only remember one time during WW2 that we shelled open pollinated corn to plant. Hand cranked Clipper Cleaners were the order of the day for cleaning seeds. I was wondering last week if I could find one on Ebay because I have some Milo that I would like to clean. I for one am completly befuddled by all the crazy things that are happening. We have gone from a self sufficent agrarian society of my youth to what?
