They learned how to scratch and they are feathering a bit more now, I didn't realize how different they feather from other chickens! They certainly don't "fly" as well, and their feathers look like.....silk

you can add some polyvisol vitamins to them so u wont have any problems with crocked toes or neck, I always add a couple drops daily with fresh water and they all look amazingly cute and fluffy, silkies are very fragil wonderful balls of fluff and i learned the hard way to care for them, I own 20 of them and i love them to death.

wish you the best with your cuties

Mine usually start at about 3-4 wks it seems to depend on year and how hot/cold they are. they will go through it faster when the temps arnt as high to feather faster.

Ive got blue, splash, white and had some buff ive raised all from chicks.
Are you sure that is a splash chick? I really think its a blue! My splash chicks (even the darkest one) all started out looking white the first couple weeks. Their splash color comes in with their actual feathers in their first molt at a couple weeks old...... They continue to darken as they age. Mine are 3-4 months old now and still darkening a bit!

Not sure how to post pictures in here, but I have 4 adorable silkies hatched 15th of December.
Well, they are kind of between adorable/fluffy and beautiful grown ups at the moment...
