I'm getting the itch. Anyone want to hatch some eggs?

Yes Thankyou for the pictures!

I let them rest for a day and half before i put them in. If the first 24 hours counts as day zero, then I'm at the close of day 21. I have seen people count both ways when i was researching on here, it's a little more encouraging to take the day off at this point. We did have several power outages during thunderstorms.
All of that will factor into the development and hatch date so don't lose hope yet

Ok..candle question if you don't mind! One of my eggs has the normal looking aircell plus it dips down like a u on one side???? Can see the chick and veins so development is going on, but the u in the aircell????

That's normal and usually means they should be internally piping soon... If its that way for more than 48 hours it usually means the chick has died. Sorry, I had to include that.

It is one of my shipped eggs.....so hoping they were doing ok since I saw veins and development progressing

I have no experience with shipped eggs so that may be why its like that, don't get worried, I have read where shipped eggs have some hokey air cells and do just fine... I had an air cell once that stayed on the side, never looked normal and I got a beautiful EE to hatch from it.. I had given up on it being able to but every time I candled I saw movement so I thankfully left it alone, woke up on day 21 to it having some it by itself.. So don't stress about it, I thought you were talking about the ones that went into lockdown....sorry!!!...

I have found out that shipped eggs can be tricky! I have a shipped set in my bator and a local set under my broody. After I realized the problems shipped eggs can have, I looked locally because my broody REALLY wants to hatch and I wanted her to have success on her very first time as a broody mom

Did I mention she is a pet chicken???LOL and completely spoiled

My first time incubating I set 6 shipped eggs , later in the day when I walked in to check the temp I could see through the window that one of the eggs didn't look right, it was wet looking, I opened the bator to find that the egg had cracked for some reason, trying to take it out it broke, noticed two more were doing the same thing, I tossed them all cause I was afraid of them exploding or something...haven't taken the plunge again although I might try later next year... I wont be incubating I don't think this winter, we only have wood heat and it is to costly to run our space heater in the incubation room to keep it warm enough in there for the bator to hold a steady temp..

I have heard both good and bad. I think distance shipped and time of year effect the success...maybe???

I started with 6 shipped, 1 broke in the mail even though they were packed well. I let them rest 2 days and am keeping them fat end up in the bator. I have 2 looking good(one is the u aircell baby
hmm.png
) 1 maybe and 2 that are clear. Hoping the 2 looking good make it

Wow... Hopefully the two Blues make it.. I always love to see what others are hatching.... Personally I don't know exactly what it is I want if I were to purchase eggs, I bought a couple Standard Cochin chicks to go with a lone chick I had and I don't think I am going to keep them...something about feathered feet...lol... not to crazy about it...
