I have no personal experience with chicks yet, but this reference has been given out by very knowledgeable members.

I just had the same thing happen to me. I went out to the coop last night and one of my 6 week old chicks walks funny and just lays back down. She's growing just like the rest, and was fine before last night. Is there anything you can do to fix it, or does this bird need to be culled?

LynneP thanks for that link. I have already used that method one a small chick. It worked for a short while and then the chick got to where it couldnt walk again. I culled it (acutally i got someone else to do it for me). The one im having trouble with now is about 8 weeks old or so. it really sucks to kill it but i think im going to have to.
today its leg hasnt fallen off or anything yet but it sure isnt getting any better. I cant say enough how sad it is to see that poor babies leg sticking out to the side and not being able to walk.

thanks princess, i have 3 RIR chicks that I bought from the tractor supply company. I love them! Im not quite sure where u live. I live near thomasville. Its almost to the Fl. line. I would really love to have some buff orpingtons. you have any of those?

oh! yea i know where u are! my sister lives in altanta. yea about 4 hrs. thanks for the offer. maybe when i get some orps i can share them with you

Those are games, that is for sure. There are many different breeds and bloodlines though. They look nice from what I can see in the picture. If I could see them standing, and from the side, I could give you a good idea what kind they are.
