I'm having speech trouble and it's getting embarrasing!

That's what the rheumatologist believes it is actually. Still waiting for all the tests to come back and my follow-up appointment. I tried to tell my internist that it just wasn't acting like "normal" fibro. anymore, but he didn't believe me because I don't have the butterfly rash. Actually I do have it, but its on my neck not my face. I had to be very persistant to get the referral to the rheumatologist. The rheumatologist is three hours away, so it's all a big hassle.

It must be a guy thing! Because I can tell my husband EXACTLY where something is, say a jar of pickles. "Hun, it's in the top shelf of the fridge to the right" It could be a snake, and it would have bit him square between the eyes. Mind you, the pickle jar was not hidden behind ANYTHING and the label was pointed forward, with a clear title and picture of what he was looking for. LOL

This must just be a quirk thing. LOL

LOL I do this, badly.

Not all cases of Systemic Lupus have the butterfuly rash. The butterfly rash is more common with discoid lupus...or lupus that affects the skin oppose to the entire systemic system. I have never had the rash and I became symptomatic 15 yrs ago and formally diagnosed 8 or 9 yrs ago. It is just one of the several symptoms. To be properly diagnosed, 4 of the 11 criteria (or this one) are needed (the butterfly rash being only one of them). Systemic Lupus commonly has secondary symptomatic problems with Fibromyalgia being one of the most common. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia first, but the Rheumatologist had a feeling that I was developing Lupus already since it runs in the family (sometimes, but not always, genetic). Once she determined I did in fact have Lupus, she said that I still had secondary Fibromyalgia.

I really hope they figure it out for you!

ETA: You said the rash is on your neck...that is the discoid rash (criteria 2). Maybe you need to have your doc look up the criteria. Not all doctors are completely familiarized with it (unfortunately). It took me several docs to even get one to listen.

I finally called up UCLA, who does extensive Lupus research, and had them recommend a doc that was within my insurance plan.

I also have skin mottling (I forget the proper name). It's very embarrasing to me and why I wear long sleeves most of the time. It looks like I have red spider webs all over my body. The only place I don't have it (yet) is on my calves and feet, but it's getting there.

I saw it too, but wasn't sure if it was intentional or coincidental.

Luna, we play games with words and songs here all the time. I too have had the experience of having some "at home" word crop up in conversation. I can't remember what the last one was but I do remember once saying "its vindaloo today" to someone, and trying to catch the words as they flew out of my mouth. Around here we say vindaloo for very windy.

Yes, we're very strange.

A good doctor will check your thyroid before doing the Fibro diagnosis. Gritsar, lupus will also show up as bruising/mottleing and sometimes skin sloughing. Sensitivity to temperature changes too.
Sigh, after 40 its patch, patch, patch.

i am so sorry your going through this! I hope they find out what's going on and they can help you. Never be embarrased for having a medical issue!

I try to tell my husband farting isn't a medical condition and he SHOULD be embarased for doing it ALL THE TIME! I had to bann him from beans and rice

I will tell you I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia before I was diagnosed with Graves. I'm not suggesting you have Graves, just that it sounds like a good time to get a few tests run. At least rule a few things out.
