I'm having this odd issue with my eyes: anyone know what it might be?

1961? You're just a baby! The thing that amazes me is nearly 27,000 posts in less than a year and a half. That would give anybody floaters.

It might be an ocular migraine-which is a migraine without the pain. Really weird. I've gotten one once when I was really hungry. Still, I'd get it checked out.

I have floaters; have had for years. Have also had cataracts - and surgery to remove them - on both eyes. But the "broken glass" is something I haven't seen yet. Hope it proves to not be too serious for you Wynette.

my husband was getting them bad enough that if he was driving he had to pull over till it passed.. doc said it was an ocular migraine when they tested him.. no pain just scarey.. so good luck with yours.. i guess they are quite common

Glad you will be seeing a doctor, but it does sound like an ocular migraine. They are pretty freaky, some people do get a headache after. I just get bright light of different colors around the outside of my field of vision. Many people say they are cog shaped, I thought they looked like triangle flags that I used to see around used car lots. Sometimes the vision in the center will get blurred. The first one I had scared me to death, and I headed for the emergency room. Doctor said I had a welding flash...good thought, but I don't weld. My regular doctor thought I was nuts, and finally my eye doctor was majorly impressed and said she had never had one but heard they were interesting. I told her she could have mine as they make me feel sick to my stomach.

I have worked as an ophthalmic and retina tech for 17 years as well as being one who gets ocular migrains. No headache or sometimes just a slight headache about 30 minutes after the visual effects. With symptoms such as yours you won't truly know what the issue is until you see an Ophthalmologist BUT what you describe does sound like ocular migraine. You can Google "scintillating scotoma" for more info. You are wise to see an Ophtalmologist right away to rule out other causes. Best wishes.

Okie dokie - back from my opthamologist appt., and he said that "ocular migraine" is a term opthamologists use for stuff like this when they can't find a cause. He did say that there are sometimes issues with blood vessels spasaming, I think he said...but that they are so tiny, it's very difficult to see them do it.

He ordered a test called "Fluorescein Angiogram with Fundus Photos" and a visual field test for 2/15 in the late afternoon, but said that as of today's exam, everything looks just fine.

I'm super glad I went, and thanks again to you all for your concern & feedback! I'll update this thread on 2/16 to let you know what he finds with the test.
