I'm making a free flock management system

integrated with BYC so web based as I have broadband. I spend plenty of time on this site so I could be doing something worthwhile....using spreadsheets isn't pleasant and I have to get rid of all my paper mess that has been piling up.

If I had my druthers, I'd rather have it downloaded to my computer so I could access it to work on it when I'm not on line. But if it were a website or part of BYC, I would still definitely use it. So do what ever works the best for you. And thank you so much for doing this project, it's a very exciting prospect, and I would be honored to be able to use it. BJ

I'm not sure, but probably use the website header and footer but the forum login credentials. It's relatively easy to switch between the two later down the road... just swapping out which header / footer to call (more or less).

For those that don't have internet access everywhere they go (like me) it would be good to have a download version. With that said, a web based version is the best option for portability, stability, and cross system functionality. Meaning, you could access it from any computer (or mobile browser) that is connected to the internet.

I would prefer an online version, but you could post a downloadable version later on after the web version is released that allows syncing of your information to the website (if you choose to). Kind of the best of both worlds, but I would make this a feature after the web version is released as this would take a little time to plan out and code.

I will be happy & Honored to use this regardless of download or web-based....

I would be using it for all my Flocks!

I have an iTouch and if I'm on vacation or whatever and away from my birds, I can still get their data if necessary on a web-based application -- but -- on a day-to-day basis I could update the data on my home PC.

Best of both worlds.

I would TOTALLY use this to track the # of eggs I get/hen, how much their laying goes down in the winter, which hen lays the most (and least), how old they are (it does get old real fast having to remember week by week), etc. And if I start selling/donating eggs, I could track that too.

Sounds like a fabulous piece of software!
