Just dropping in to introduce myself here on BYC. I've been learning from the site for several months now, but decided it was time to make an account so that I can personally ask my own questions about poultry.
WHAT I USED TO HAVE...
I used to have several geese (seven, to be exact), and LOVED them. Still want to get more, but I currently only raise ducks. They are easier to find than geese sometimes. Current dream goose breed is Pilgrim due to the autosexing nature of their plumage both when they are goslings as well as adults. Makes life easier!
MY CURRENT FLOCK...
10 Welsh Harlequin
2 Cayuga
1 Khaki Campbell
WATERFOWL BREEDS I DREAM OF...
In ducks? So many breeds. I could talk about them for hours.
Dutch Hookbill fascinate me. I'd like to get my hands on some of them someday!
Call, Magpie, and so many others also call my name...
In geese?
I have a soft spot for Saddleback Pomeranians. We used to have a rescue, and she was the sweetest thing.
A few other goose breeds that pique my interest are Pilgrim, Embden and Chinese.
OTHER THINGS...
I am heavy into researching quail at the moment. Interested in Bobwhites, but may start with Coturnix.
I also think that the Chantecler breed of chicken is pretty cool.
I am often found neck-deep in planning how to make space for more ducks, geese, etc., mixing up another batch of home-formulated duck feed, or poring over some article on poultry nutrition.
I am glad to be able to ask questions of this community, and hopefully contribute some meaningful tips on topics that I am familiar with.
