Yes, i have a few that i bring in. Lulu, Tucks, Hobo and the roo. The girls will sit on the couch, watch t.v., eat pop tarts ,peck the couch cushions basically have a hen party. The roo dosent so much come in, but if i hang my clothes on the line he hops in my laundry basket and i have to bring him in for a bit. He likes to "sunbathe" on the rug in the living room, i give him eggos and let him watch t.v. too. I've got busted with him in the house, hubs wasn't upset he just said "ok Cesar Milan get the chittin rooster off the rug. And why does he have an eggo?"
Hahaha.....do you guys ever do this?!! (I sneak them in the house when he's not around!)

My husband went to the dentist. I ran out to do my chickening.

Then I brought my two MFD girls in the house (they're so cute, and talky, and fluffy, and kissable...)

After letting them fly around and snuggle on my lap, I brought them back to their run, cleaned up the telltale poop and feathers, checked my phone, and this was on it:

"Got my cavity filled. Get that chicken out of the house."

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!! Does he know me, or what?!! I"m cracking the hell up, here.:lau

My Sweetie is the one who does it! I will go out to the unfinished studio/garage (his Man Cave) and he's in there, playing guitar, chain-smoking, with a bunch of chickens pecking around. Usually a rabbit and a cat or three back there as well.
"You're not feeding them all Oreo's are you?"
"Yes. Is that bad?"
"What do you think?"
"I gave them salami, too, for protein!"
"Out. Put them all out. Before they get diabetes or lung cancer!"

Party pooper!

I've been working my tail off trying to catch up with housework and rearrange furniture to make room for lots of tables. My friend brought over some tables and folding chairs from her mom's shed. Ugh... they brought the late the other night. The next morning I look and they are covered with all kinds of webs n' dirt. I freaked. So glad I made them leave them in the laundry room. Took me hours to clean them up and spray everything with bug spray. I'm so tired and I'll be glad when Thanksgiving is over. I always save housework for last, so it was way past time for a good cleaning.

I haven't had much time with the new babies, but did have them out for a short time. They are so cute. I let Eve look at them and she grabbed on by the foot. Don't know if she's just evil or thinks that's what she's supposed to do, afterall that's what the big chickens did to her. Ruby is fascinated with them, but within a few weeks she will get bored of them. She's been bored with Eve for a few weeks now. I wrapped Eve in a washcloth and trimmed a teenie bit off her nails as she was clawing me to pieces. She looks like a vulture. haha

I'm not a committee joiner. My kids' school has all these things and I'm like No thanks. I try to buy stuff from their sales (I have a lifetime supply of tangelos in my fridge as I type), but I don't people.

Bahhahahahahhhh

I'm in the same boat - newbie. I put a light in the coop on a timer just b/c the sun rises at 7 now and sets at 5... I'm worried they won't have enough hours to eat enough. The light turns on at 6, I free them around 8 ish on weekdays, a little later during the weekend (my chickens don't live w/ me). Then at night the light turns on at 4 and off at 7. I close their door after 5 when they've all come inside. Yesterday I was out there and several of them were already on the roosts ready for bed at 5, others were still outside for a little longer. The light had been on until 8, but I figured if they're ok w/ going to bed at 5 then why am I forcing them to stay up later?

It snowed here the other day and mine didn't care a bit. When it first started to snow they thought the tiny snow pellets were treats and were going crazy eating them all! I was shocked that they even wanted out, but they happily ran around. They haven't been out ranging in actual snow yet, I'm kind of interested to see what they think of it.

Have you tried super glue on the cut?

Mine seem to like the flock block.. When they were little I gave them those babycake things and they didn't last long at all. I tossed a block in there last week. I was hoping to hold off until Dec to put it in, but I figured if they end up inside more b/c of the cold I wanted them to have something to do. Have anyone tried the treat balls? https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/manna-pro-chicken-toy?cm_vc=-10005
I saw them last week and wondered if it was worth it to get one.

No, haven't tried super glue. It's getting better.

I gave my chickens the babycakes too and they loved them. Haven't tried a flock block, but sounds like a good winter activity. Got them a few dogs toys to hang up in the coop they can peck at. I put holes in a couple of water bottles to put treats or grains in, but they empty them so quick.

I have heard they can go out in the snow, I'm just afraid they will get a distance from the safety of their house and get frozen feet. My older chihuahua, Winky, had that happen last year. He went out to potty and all of a sudden started screaming. It was horrible. I've tried all kinds of boots, mats, etc. and nothing seems to work. They won't walk in the boots. I'm a bit overprotective maybe.....

That is too funny. He does know you well! I let them come in if they want, but mostly it was my roo Pearl that spent a lot of time in the house. I miss snuggling him :hmm

They're so beautiful! I'm fighting the urge to get more chicks right now -- I keep saying I'm gonna wait til I have a hen go broody, but I don't think I can wait.

My hens have never seen snow before, but I expect they'll adapt, just like they did with the rain. They make a beeline for the covered patio by the house when I open the coop, and hang out there all day, with dashes back to lay eggs, or venture out to forage when the rain lessons. I had to winterize my patio with some seriously ugly boards, plastic sheeting, and straw because they hang out there, instead of their warm, spacious, dry coop!

Sweetie will probably take them into the man cave with him on snow days, to play music, eat Oreos, and smoke.

Ha! I'm suprised you didn't get pecked, Marlene will absolutely light me up if i reach under her. I don't know if its the egg size or what but Delawares are sloow. I went out yesterday to give the girls dinner and Hobo was on the nest, i didn't want her to miss out so i put some in my hand and gave her some. I had a boiled egg yolk an absolute favorite, and I'll be smacked if that hen didn't stand up,squint, pop her egg out and go straight for that egg yolk in my feed cup! That dominicker is an absolute beast! :lau
She never laid an egg yesterday. I went back later and there was a lone green egg, def not hers. I broke up a tums this morning. She only ate 1/8 of it. I had to put scratch in my hand with it. She picked up another piece, but it was larger and she dropped it. Does anyone know how much of a tums you're supposed to give them for calcium? I'm going to do a search but maybe someone knows. I've read about it before, but no one ever says how much, they just say 'crush up a tums and give it to her'. That's about 1/2 useless... Am I supposed to make her eat the whole thing?

Well...I guess Ms. Esmeralda was tired of getting shamed! I went out this afternoon to see if Ms. Bonnie had laid an egg and found Esmeralda's egg on top of the Jail!

Congrats!! It's beautiful. (This is the only place in the entire world where someone would say an egg is beautiful).

Adorable! I will take them inside for a min if I need to grab something medical from inside and can't set them down, but don't take them in for visiting. When they were little we had them in the basement and would occasionally take a couple upstairs. They had a field day once eating walnut bits off the floor after my mom was done cutting some up. I did take Willie home w/ me when he was little (he was mean to everyone and I put him in a hamster cage). He sat on my shoulder nestled in my hair or on the back of my neck. He'd follow me around. At bed time he wouldn't go to sleep unless I took him into bed with me. I think he was cold. Now he's a turd and attacks my feet (he's a bantam so it's like when a tiny kitten jumps on your foot). AND he never shuts up. Also, I live in a apt that doesn't allow non caged pets, so he doesn't come home w/ me anymore, but my kids keep trying to convince me to take Ash, our other bantam, home... just say she's a 'bird'.

OH! They're soooo cute! The Eve reminds me of a crow! LOL I like the dog toy idea. I might look into that. Our coop is 8x8 so there isn't much space for stuff, esp hanging, but I might be able to figure out something. That's what I suspected about the treat ball... that they would empty pretty quickly & be pointless. The flock block is much harder and takes my birds longer to get through. I have 13 that have access to it. I going to get Odin one of those blocks you put in the little cage thing, but I'm hoping they go on sale soon.
My mom's dog is the same way! He's a toy poodle and he gets snow/ ice stuck between his toes and then you have to thaw them out. Boots don't work, but they sometimes get him a sweater. In the winter he doesn't go out for very long, sometimes he doesn't even make it off the porch. My SIL lives in Southern CA and she has a little raincoat, hat, boots outfit for her dog, and surprisingly the dog wears it.

Aww, adorable little puffys! You don't really get a good grip on how big Eve is until you see her next to itty bitties and a pup, that's going to be a huge lady! You're definitely giving me the chick itch, I'm pretty sure hubs would run away if i hatched any.....might be totally worth it though. :)
