My ducks rule, and the chickens know their place. They will mingle from time to time, (scratch time lol) but mostly they avoid each other just fine. If you get female ducks, you need at least 4, if you plan to keep the 2 drakes. Can you give Red Rider extra places to get away from them? Things to jump up on that the ducks can't reach him?

Bump them together... :gig
I'm sorry. Possibly separate them for a few hours (or longer). Make him miss her. Then he'll want to do the nasty with her right away!
This explains so much. I keep Odin separated b/c my ASL's keep pecking his tail. I let him out w/ him sometimes when they're ranging and he runs around and jumps on every girl he can get a hold of. I always feel bad for them b/c they just want to dig in the dirt and eat & he's all over them like a frat boy at a kegger. I usually give the girls a little free time before unleashing the beast just so they're more accepting of him.

There are plenty of places Red Rider can get out of reach, but he just doesn't do it often. They regularly pin him down and then he runs off, but moments later he's running with them.

I think I've decided to just get rid of them. I certainly don't want 4 female ducks too.

Last time I bought chicks from there I waited until they boxed them up and left then I put two back in the tub and checked out with the four I could actually handle. So i shoplifted in reverse. ;)
My kids were begging for ducklings from TSC, here you have to buy 6. We don't have a pond... wth do they thing we're going to do w 6 ducks? Smh.. kids.

There were some people in Bradenton FL down the street from us. Every day they put the swimming pool out on the front lawn and filled it with water. The ducks got in and played.

I get why they have a limit, but honestly I think they should impose it on a per case basis or as long as you just aren't buying one. A couple more than you need is alot if you aren't prepared for them..

To make up for the ones that die :hide

I had an aunt just pass away in Bradenton last week. Actually my step-fathers sister, and I've only talked to her a couple times in the past 10 years since he died, but she was a fun woman. I wish I had kept in touch with her..
