It's nice to find a place where people are who they are, and can laugh about it with each other! It's all in good fun and sometimes there's nothing funnier than real life! :love

YAAAAAAAAAASSSSSS!!! Much love, beautiful BYC peeps!:woot

I thought this thread had died or maybe I got booted off for getting an egg and wearing regular clothes. For some reason I'm not getting alerts. We are now getting 3 or 4 egg a day. One little girl is still not laying so don't worry those eggs will come. I must say I have enjoyed seeing the pictures and have caught up on the humorous stories.

:lau Get with the program - wear something funky to the chicken house lol. I think the girls (pullets/hens) like to see us dressed comfy.

Here's the best I could get by myself -- not too good at selfies. In my t-shirt nightie, green crock-alikes and a jacket. I'll try to get something later if I can get someone to take a pic.

They lay "or at least the one that isn't a slacker" little cream colored eggs. Very small egg for such a big bird.:)

They really do! Your favs are beautiful (my husband calls them "Salmon Crusted Faverolles." I don't know why, lol. I guess it's a foodie thing).

I wanted favs, I had them in my shopping cart for my last MPC order. And then, and then, I went to the state fair and saw a couple of favs. They were enormous birds. And there was this tiny little egg in the cage with one of them. I couldn't believe how little they were! So I changed my order to get an EE and a Blue Favaucana. Cuz I wanted a smaller chicken with bigger eggs, lol.

But they are so cute. And their personalities seem awesome. SO I think next spring I might wind up getting a couple....

I love MPC, they're great! I never got eggs from them (yet) but I'm sure next spring I will be getting a 'bater and some little bitty Serama eggs. Chicken math strikes again...
:D

Yeah girl, that's beautiful!! I'm sure your chooks all clucked in approval! I like how you strategically left out your face, so as to protect the guilty, lol ;)

This AM I found myself walking out to the coop in (it was freaking cold out!) my mismatched pink pajamas, my husband's grey checked flannel bathrobe, a purple winter coat over that, and white nerd socks and my RCS's (red chicken Sloggers). If I didn't have an ancient flip phone, I fer sure would have snapped off a pic for you all!

So I thought today would be the day (the wonderful, elusive, First Egg Day). It wasn't. But this is why, and has this happened with your chooks right before they lay?

There have been these ginormous turb boulders lately, in and around the nest boxes. Then this AM I saw what looked like some almost-blood-colored orangey mucousy stuff on one of the turds. Birds are all acting fine. Do they, like, bleed a little before their first egg? Cuz I would imagine that stretches their little tiny virginal cloacas a bit. Not to be gross, I am serious...

Sometimes they will bleed a bit.
Could it have been an oops egg? I think that what it's called. One with no shell. It happens sometimes.
