Squatting is always good! Except when they squat in front of you and you end up busting your knee on the chicken ramp and you have a rooster so they shouldn't be squatting for you in the first freaking place. :lau
My rhode island red hen (rhodey)did a submissive squat!!!!!so maybe eggs soon?!:fl

My thanksgiving was uneventful, got absolutely white girl wasted on mimosas and "cooked" a little dinner for hubs and i ,it turned out pretty terrible. The only thing that was decent was the turkey breast and that only happened because i didn't fiddle with it too much. I wasn't planning on cooking but he seemed sad, after i cooked he really was sad.:)

LOL -- I'm sure he wasn't all that sad. Hey -- he didn't have to cook.
I would love a day to sit around drinking mimosas or some other adult beverage. Might have to do that very soon.

I don't know it was pretty bad lol! But what he didn't eat the girls inhaled. My plan wasn't to cook at all, i was going to drink and watch parades but then the cry baby piped up. So i kind of did both.:)

Well y'all I'm glad some of you could actually get into your TSC today. I went to get some birdseed and didn't even go in, looked like a hillbilly bomb went off in there. Birds will just have to suck it up and steal from the chickens for a day.
I waited until Sunday. They didn't have anything on sale that I needed and the buck or 2 I would have saved wasn't worth it. I did go to Lowes also on Sunday to get more chicken wire to cover my run (it currently has bird netting which worked, but I noticed that it's starting to tear in and I don't want to risk stuff getting in.) and the place was packed still. They have an inflatable penguin that I would have considered thinking about getting if it wasn't $165. Nothing I ever need or want is on sale. I did order a few things online. There's these candles that come with a ring hidden in the jar. My daughters love them. You're supposed to burn the candle and get the ring out. We can never wait that long. Anyway.. they were on sale. I also bought myself a trail cam so I can watch what's trying to eat my chickens. And earbuds... b/c my kids go through them like water. Last year I bought them 8 pairs and roughly once a month I have to buy more.

Omg! Busted my knee on the side of the coop ramp crap that hurt! What i don't get is my pants are fine but my knee is fornicated, how does that even happen?
LOL I like your wording! Did everything heal?

Ha ha! That's the only way that we survived several holidays with my mom -- keep the mimosas flowing!

My Sweetie is off to his family thanksgiving today without me -- yippee! (see the: Dry turkey, wicked MIL, and canned spinach from earlier posts, those of you just joining us). My son and I will be barbecuing tri-tip and whipping up the margaritas soon.

Might go for a walk in the woods before the rain starts up again, but it's sooooo cozy and quiet right now. Hard to hoist self from the recliner.

So thankful, on this false Thanksgiving, that I'm NOT with in-laws. Bliss.
So glad you were able to get out of going. Did your husband say how things went?

No submissive sqaut, they are easter eggers.they have been going in the nesting boxes.I do have one rhode island red who has bright red wattles comb and all no submissive squat.well if I have to wait till spring I guess so be it.I just want an egg so bad..
I have a Marans girl at 29 weeks. She has been bright red for a few weeks now, has squatted for me a couple times, I've seen a couple boys mate her. But still no egg. :(
I've heard some eggers take extra long to lay, as do Americaunas. Mine took longer than the others, but my eggers were also the youngest so I didn't really realize that they were taking longer to lay. I've also noticed that it takes each of my girls several days to produce an egg now. I got my first blue egg in a week yesterday. I thought they had stopped, but apparently it's taking them longer to produce. That squatting is more an indicator than the red comb, IMO b/c it means they are willing to mate. With all my girls, the ones who were willing to mate were laying while the ones who weren't willing weren't laying yet. Then soon after I saw them submit they'd start laying. It's also subjective b/c some of mine that I thought were to lay soon b/c they had a big red comb didn't start laying til later and their comb got much larger before laying started.

I didnt mean for mail to be in there.I hate my keyboard it always offer options for different words.:hmm
Same. My phone sometimes decides that I'm don't replying and posts for me. Then I have to go back and edit it before I look like a total moron.

@apryl29 The knee is healing, but its a knee so I'm constantly hitting it or rubbing it so i never get to quite forget that i buggerd it up. Here's a pic, please ignore my manly legs.:lau

LOL duly ignored. Ugh.. that looks deep. Maybe the chicken was trying to incapacitate you so they could feast on your body.
