I think the feet thing is some kind of misplaced rooster lust. Did you go barefoot or wear flip flops around him alot as a chick? That's the only issue i ever had out of mine but then i thought about it,he was always around my bare feet! Sitting, snuggling maybe for a while the goober thought he was a foot i seriouly don't know. :)
Yes, I'm a big softie, and he's a keeper now. As long as he doesn't get any leakage in his hackle feathers (I think he's old enough now that he won't), I put him with some lovely splash pullets, smooth and frizzled. They are sweet and close to his age and accepted him very well - with the exception of the little mean-ass that I moved.

:gig

I have one little bantam cochin dude right now that an OEGB hen hatched. He lived with the OEGB's until he started trying to mate them, so time to move out! He was very sweet and handle-able, because all my OEGB's are sweet. Now he is out with the other male "yard birds" and they don't like him very much, so he hangs out with the ducks a lot. He has recently started running to me, and will peck my feet! I think he just wants treats. I hope he isn't turning aggressive. I'm keeping a stink-eye on him. lol

LOL That's Willie and he's a little bit of nothing and we laugh at him when he gets fiesty. I have a leghorn that is a turd. I tried that swat at him thing and if anything I think it made him more aggressive. Now I just point at him and tell him No when he gives me the stink eye. I've also found that if I squat down by him when he's acting like he's going to attack, then he backs off. It's so weird. One of the things I love the most about Odin is that he makes this really excited sound when I give him treats, kind of like cooing or purring. It's funny to see how excited he gets, he does this cute little dance (I assume it's a dance, he could be trying to tell me he wants to kill me).

The sounds they make for treats are usually trying to call the hens. "hey, food here!!" lol I love learning their little private language. With mine, I can tell what almost all of their noises mean now. Kinda like a dog's different barks, you kinda know a bad one from a playful one, etc.

Actually, no, I didn't wear flip flops much. I think its the camouflage clogs I've been wearing. Usually I wear my Muck boots, but its been dry enough to just slip on the clogs. Maybe he sees a worm in the camo pattern. :gig

I wore flipflops all the time in the summer. And Willie loved to chase my daughter when he was little. He was adorable then. She'd start running and he'd follow right after her (not being mean or aggressive). He was the only one who would do it. I took him home w/ me once and he'd follow me all over the place like a little puppy. Willie absolutely hates my daugher's rain boots thought they do look scary. he will just keep pecking at them like it's a monster. He'll also untie your shoes.

I'm getting to understand roo language pretty good myself although Negan's vocabulary is limited. He's got oh chit something's in the yard! He's got the I've got goodies purr. And he's got that I'm going to make you a nest thing. I'm really proud of him with the worms, he takes a few and offers them up before he eats, those things are chicken gold so he's quite the man.;)

I got another new egg today! :ep

Same pen, I think it was one of the girls that was raising babies. The babies are 12 weeks, so i didn't think the mommas would lay again, since they hadn't started back yet. But as usual, they prove me wrong lol

Those hens are machines! I would have taken the longest break possible if i was them.:)

That is Exactly how I feel about it too!! On a happy note we integrated our three ISA Browns and three California Whites today without incident (15 weeks old). They have been living in the coop for a month with the bigs. There was only a couple of pecks and Zaffer was especially excited and did his "How you doing" dance for all of them! My husband was like...what is he doing??? LOL...I explained it to him.
Here are out integration areas. They would sleep in these and be in a run next to the big run during the day...it seemed to work out. The 13 week old Faverolles have been moved in tonight!

Beautiful!!!!! Congrats!!! Isn't it exciting?!

I think my buff Silkie, Phoebe Buffay, is getting ready to lay. Her little bung is looking all stretchylike, and she squatted down today and let me pet her for a good long time! This is a bird that has run in terror from me since day one, and she is 7 months old. 7 months already, I need another one of my freeloaders to start laying!!
