yes i am in eastvale.
sigh or i'm supposedly corona going to turn into eastvale. not eastvale yet or something like that...

so after the first notice and the second notice where the code enforcement officer came and told us that we have 30 days to fix this violation or get a fine i've been in the process of moving my coop to this one location in my backyard that does make the 50 feet thing. i called the planning department and asked and they said the babies dont count only if they are mature crowing fowl. Only 3 of my hens are laying age so they are the only things that count and i'm allowed 4 hens. so for now i can keep my babies. that's why for now i was just going to move the coop and figure out what i can do with the planning department to keep couple more.

HOWEVER today i get a new notice and it hasn't even been 30days yet more like 2 weeks.
it says something about get rid of the coop and chickens and i will be charged hundred something dollars per hour for the code enforcement officer's work. WHAT's HAPPENING! i can't even contact them cause its the weekend. ARGH!!! what happened to my 30 days?

i'm wondering what counts as disabled. we got chickens since my grandpa who moved from korea used to live in a farm and he's bored as heck. the chickens help him get exercise and move around since he's had 3 strokes and has trouble moving. also i have a schizophrenic uncle who causes trouble unless he's busy so we get him to do the busy work on the chickens like washing and cleaning the coop and such... i wonder if that counts...

can you type out what the new notice says or is it too long?

i want to but i'm out traveling currently i just got a phone call from my parents and that's what they said was on the notice. i will be back in a couple days i can type it out then....

Please do. I'm really interested in this new development. They gave you 30 days, you have 30 days. They can't change that without conducting another inspecion.

Can your mom fax the new notice to your hotel? Then on Monday you can call and ask for an explanation. You can also mention that you spoke with the planning department and were told that you are allowed four hens, that immature birds do not count, and that you are in the process of moving the coop to meet distance requirements. Furthermore, the original notice dated X gave you 30 days to comply; those 30 days will not expire until Y.

Followup the phone call with a written letter (can email or fax it also) noting the conversation and repeating the abvoe as well as any comments they make. Be sure to take down name (ask for spelling) and exact position of the person you speak with. You may wish to ask to speak to the head of the department.

Here is a question ? Have you ever posted on the " Eastvale forum " ? I know that I said something one of the mods' did not like. After that I was harassed via code enforcment. Not for my hens because I knew to be quiet. Plus my neighbors supported me and even offered to give written statments that they felt I was harassed by code enforcment. What we suspect is the mod. who didn't care for me, used my address that I used to sign up for the forum. Since complaints are kept private I have no way of knowing who it was , but since I am disable I rarely go anywhere and my yard was maintained better then most homes. I got tickets for dead spots on the neighbors lawn. But since it was via complaint I had to fight and prove it was false. That harassment is what made us decide to move. Those on the forum did not know I moved and the new owners now have been getting tickets.
It appears the eastvale forum is mainly used as a way to harass. There is a group of women that call themselfs " witches of eastvale " . I have even saw posts where they talked about passing someones address to report and for kicks make them pay the ticket. Sad. I know for me paying a ticket means something we go without. Like my medication.
But that is the type of people who moved out there in eastvale.
Look over the laws, because nowhere did I ever see anything about fines. Also I know some of this " group" that have illegal turtles. But sure she will never get reported.

Would your uncles doctor write a note saying the chickens help him ?
Do you have children that can do 4h ? Needless to say Eastvale makes laws as they go along. It is going to get way worse now that they passed to become their own city too.
Eastvale is the city of rude people. So glad to be out of there.

Just a little observation, does this city know that hens do now crow? Just asking...

Seriously though, I feel bad that you are getting so much hassle. Good grief. Maybe these people should mind their own business. Maybe their problem is that they don't have enough to occupy themselves. See what happens when you don't have a fruitful endeavor like chickens?

One of the reasons I harp on having clean hands when trying to change the laws in towns and cities is to prevent the automatic pile on of infractions and fines if they discover you have been flaunting the current laws.

Has it dawned on anyone that you too can play the pile on game, you find several minor infractions committed by those who are hassling you and repay in kind, you do this with several others who have had enough.

I've seen post after post complaining about various things having taken place but rarely do I see anyone returning the fine favors others have done for them.

It can work wonders, especially if just one of the busy bodies gets really nailed by the local enforcement folks and the rest of the busy bodies know about it because they too have been visited.

Things are a lot nicer where there are large lots and the busy bodies don't feel like they own your land as well as theirs.

Elbow room prevents stupidity it seems.
