I'm shocked... Our church burned down.

This is terrible! But, as a previous poster said, it was in the end only a building. The people who worshipped there and the God who dwelt there still exist, though to lose one's church feels like you've almost lost a way of communicating with God.

We had a church outside of town that got hit by a tornado and the members said, with God and Jesus on their sides, they WILL rebuild! Rebuild they DID and it was beautiful!

Don't be afraid of location, nothing new, anyone can go online and search church fires in the state and sorry it was arson. I never know why someone would go that low to burn down a church unless they want to take cash or belongings but too much prints left behind. Therefore, burn would erase finger prints or shoe prints.

I am so sorry! I know what it is like to be without your church. But at least you can get another one. Are they sure someone didn't set it on fire on purpose? Sounds kinda suspicious...

Apparently the man was mentally ill. Has been in and out of psychiatric care. We're meeting at a school tomorrow, but at least everyone will be there.

Thank you all for your support. I'll keep you updated on the rebuilding and everything.

The pastor's wife was allowed to pick through the rubble. She pulled out a bible, which is burnt around the edges, sopping wet, and she dried it out and it's still somewhat readable.

God has shown us that even though the building's gone, He's still with us.

After Church today, we went to the rubble. They let us pick through the rubble. We found a coffee pot, a basket ball, a CD player, a CD, 2 finger rockets, and a few Bibles. I brought a Bible home and am drying it out.

Coffee pot!

We were all dissapointed about losing our favorite painting. It was an eye painting that a professional artist came and painted. It was painted on a black canvas. Well, guess what. It was sitting there, in the rubble, completely unharmed. Not a scratch.

Fires burn oddly like that. The office building I where I once worked burned and in the middle of the rubble was a TV Guide that had been delivered the day before the fire. It was on the ground because the desk the TV Guide had been on had been burned from under it but the magazine was totally okay. Wasn't even wet from the fire hoses. Really odd.

Any paper items - Bibles included - that have been damaged by water, fire, smoke - your best bet would be to get rid of them. They will not only always smell of fire smoke, the books and any paper that was wet will attract bugs in the binding and you'll soon have critters coming out from between the pages. You'll only pass these paper eating critters onto what ever items are next to where you store them. I had to work in the fire remains of our office records to re-create them and most every creature known to man would come out from between those wet, smoky pieces of paper. I was squealing and screaming every 10 minutes or so.

So sorry you're having to go through this. The reconstruction and re-creating of records is particularly difficult as I've had to do it. But - in the end - what is important is that no persons were injured. Wood, mortar, paper can be replaced. People - not so much.
