I'm sick to my stomach--PLEASE tell me this isn't a worm--PIC INCLUDED

O.M.G you're talking worms in people aren't you?!

*freaks out thinking about having worms and not knowing it*

LOL My parasitology professor told us about his graduate school days. They would have competitions. Ingesting tapeworm eggs. Whoever isolated the eggs in their own poo "won". Ahhhhhhh!

What can you expect from a parasitology prof?

I know of a survivalist remedy is to chew and swallow a cigarette minus the butt of course. Cleans out any "creature" parasite in a couple of hours. Dont know if chickens will peck on tobacco or the effects on a chicken for that matter.

Same with me . Mine are always outside eating bugs , digging in the dirt . Never wormed them...never will . I buy meaties every year , process them myself , and cull the older hens that don't lay anymore . I've never seen any worms inside of them . I have seen plenty of worms in some deer I've processed though .

From what I have read, the wormers do not kill the worms, just paralizes them so they can be passed, where they die once out of the system. If you are seeing them in the poop after you worm, thats a good thing.

To answer the question above, it says on my wazine bottle do not give to chickens in which the eggs will be eaten.. Yes you can give it to the chicken that is laying, but i think it is saying dont eat the eggs of a treated chicken. So how long do you wait to eat them after treatment. I have not used my wazine just because i read that. Thanks Sheila

Baby kittens can have a whole belly full of these worms (it looks like a round worm to me, but maybe a hook worm?)
I saved a kitten from my old boarding barn and when I wormed her it was like a plate of spaghetti came out of her...pretty darn gross. In fact, she was the only one that survived from her litter, but they also had a ton of fleas, that combined with the worms probably made them anemic. I've not ever wormed my chickens, but now I think I may start!
