My fathe also grew up in the 1940s. Until the day he died, he wore dress pants, a dress shirt over an undershirt, and dress shoes, every day. He worked in a machine shop, and still dressed up. They all did! I have a photo to prove it.Being of Italian descent my dad didn't go anywhere to include checking the mail without being dressed. Always at least dress pants, belt, dress shirt and shoes and combed hair. The amount of jewelry was dependent on where he was going and I don't think he owned jeans or any other t shirt other than under shirts. I like dressing up but don't really go many places to warrant it. My daily is just under shirt and hair gel. Everything else is just whatever
