What did these stockings look like? I don’t know what to wear with my 40’s dresses.

I’ve got knee-high thin socks, but I never see anyone on my 40’s sewing patterns wearing anything on their legs…

I am not old enough to have ever had to wear silk stockings but I came across some clearing out some of my mother’s stuff over the holidays. They really feel lovely - but nothing could persuade me to wear them!

I remember people often using the term Sunday Best when to talking about nice clothes.

For ladies this included nice dresses, gloves, hose and heels. Little girls wore nice dresses, gloves, bobby socks, shiney patent leather shoes.

For men and boys it was suit, tie, dress shoes.

Now Sunday Best seems to be jeans, t-shirt, clean tennis shoes.

First time a saw a lady at church in pants I didn't know what to think. Over time I saw it more and more.
I do not know what Sunday Best means anymore??
I do still have a few dresses. I avoid them all I can.

I remember spending a quarter to see Lil' Abner and Daisy Mae. Seemed strange to me he wouldn't want to get caught my Daisy Mae. Never did figure out General Bullmoose.
