Has Rouses ever switched to self checkout? Last time I was there (three years ago) you could only go to a cashier (not that I mind, just wondering).

No, I’m actually from Michigan. I moved down to Louisiana for two years due to my father’s work and adopted it as home. The people are way more friendly and I like the culture (where else would you see a St Joseph statue in the grocery store?).You from around here?
I remember Safe Way... In I think Oregon in 1964 and in the late 70's in Houston Area. I can't remember the one that came to NW MO in the late 70's. I don't even remember what we had in the Detroit area in the Mid 60's to early 70's.I can’t imagine our local food chain closing out so I doubt Rouses would either. It’s interesting how each section of the country has its own line of grocery stores. In New England it’s Shaw’s (the oldest grocery store in that area), down in Florida it’s Publix, Middle Eastern states (Ohio, Kentucky, etc) it’s Kroger, north middle states (Michigan, Wisconsin) it’s Meijer, and here it’s Martins/Giant. Those are just the ones I’m familiar with.
I think Safeway still exists, I’ve heard my aunt who lives in California talk about it.I remember Safe Way... In I think Oregon in 1964 and in the late 70's in Houston Area.
