Anybody here have experience with Beanie Babies? My Mom said she was dragged her into waiting in line for those things by someone she knew.

I was a HS student when Beanies took off… and I worked in a store that sold them. I had access to all the new limited edition ones that were going to be worth thousands of dollars as long as you didn’t take the tag off… they’re now sitting in a box in my moms basement…

Anyone remember "pogs" what the heck were those about?

Oh my gosh Pogs! I was into those but I don’t even remember what the deal was, lol! Round coins or something…

I remeber there were non-name brand ones, and you weren’t allowed to call them Pogs… we (being nerdy high school age students) likened it to how you couldn’t call all soda a Coke (… is a Pepsi okay?)

I’m a middle school reading teacher (who used to love these books) and I use these as examples of 2nd person point of view. Kids don’t appreciate them, of course.

Oh I don’t know. I think it was quite bad. I think it was part toy and part collector type thing. People were spending crazy money.
Some of the rare ones sell for tens of thousands of dollars.
It wasn’t that long ago. Maybe 20 years??

I listed my entire stash on Craigslist about 10 years ago (yes, from ~1996-99) for …….. ….. not the thou$ands I envisioned as a youngster, but something ridiculous like 10 dollars total.
