I do remember my Dad calling drunk from the phone box at the train station and asking me to come and get him out of the phone box because he couldn’t figure out how to get out.
He had been to a reunion of his WWII buddies and I have never seen anyone so drunk and still able to walk and talk (sort of).

DD did a lot of plays in HS and she was particularly good playing an intoxicated flapper in 'Thoroughly Modern Millie'. I asked where she got her inspiration and she said "I remembered what you and Mom looked like after Oktoberfest."

Exactly! For decades my Mother and I would be overcome with giggles if either of us did a rendition of the phone call.
Poor Dad. He was happy as a clam and was feeling no pain!
His group had commemorative beer mugs appropriately enough! I still have them.
