I'm so old I Remember when:

I remember when I was a child there were no car seats for kids.

I used to ride standing up in the front seat. There were no worries about being thrown in a collision. Parents and grandparents had an auto brake that swung out as they touched the brake pedal. Their arm would fly out and pin you so tightly to the back of the seat your could hardly take a breath.

We also rode many times to the store in the bed of a truck. No one even thought twice about it!

Then when my newborn grandson came home from the hospital I was told to let him sleep on his back. We never did that! You put them on their tummy in my day!

I suppose we are just lucky to have survived childhood! :idunno

Once my mom was driving with me in the middle and my brother was sitting on the arm rest on the door panel so he was high enough to see out the windshield.
We went around a corner and the door popped open and out he went. I watched him cartwheel into the ditch. Mom stopped retrieved him. Gave him the once over while dusting him off. Back in the car he went and off we went.
I don't remember him sitting on or against the door ever again.

Them was very uncomfortable pants!
Not if they fit good!
I got brave and wore my white ones the last day of school. Knew I wouldn't get kicked out. Who wore short shorts? 😁
I had a pair of white ones too. Didn't wear them to school though, it was a Catholic school. Uniforms! I weighed 93 lbs when I graduated, had just turned 17. Sigh.
