When you corresponded to someone via handwritten letters in another state or country. I think we take for granted that we can talk to anyone from anywhere these days.

I have had imaginary pen pals on two occasions and now I write to a young girl in Uganda - but they won't let me send handwritten letters .

I prefer typing but if I handwrite it's usually very fast and lossy.
