I'm so old I Remember when:

I’m a middle school reading teacher (who used to love these books) and I use these as examples of 2nd person point of view. Kids don’t appreciate them, of course.
I was musing recently about how I hated those books as a kid, because I always made the horrible choices leading to the gloomy outcome. Then I lived my life in the same fashion. :p

(Maybe some intuitive childhood psychologist has written a therapy program for kids: “How to apply lessons from ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ to the rest of your life.”)

You should sell them. There is still a market for them.
I didn’t think there was except for the ultra rare ones. Mine still have tags and many are limited edition but they aren’t the exclusive ones. But if you know someone who wants them, let me know! 😉

I listed my entire stash on Craigslist about 10 years ago (yes, from ~1996-99) for …….. 🥁….. not the thou$ands I envisioned as a youngster, but something ridiculous like 10 dollars total.
Sounds about right. I think I was 15 and planning to retire on the sale of my beanie baby collection 😂

I think the books prepared us to choose our own adventures in life. Except when I read them and befell some horrible outcome, I would flip back to the last decision tree and try again.

It’s harder to do that in real life. Fiction is easier.

My parents tried to sell a whole bunch of beanie babies on craigslist for $10. No one wanted them.
